On January 20, 2026, Anhui Huaheng Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (AHB) and BASF jointly held the inauguration ceremony for the R&D Institute of Plant Nutrition Application at Huaheng Biotech’s headquarters in Hefei. This marks the official launch of the strategic collaboration between the two parties in the field of agricultural biotechnology, injecting new vitality into the development of agricultural science and technology in China.

The R&D Institute of Plant Nutrition Application aims to establish an innovation hub integrating "basic research – technology development – achievement transformation." Its core mission is to address the challenge of precise plant nutrition delivery and drive advancements in green agricultural technology. The institute plans to build four key platforms: a fertilizer formulation R&D platform, an AI-powered intelligent formulation customization platform, a professional product testing platform, and a bioassay validation platform. It will pursue technological breakthroughs in areas such as reducing fertilizer use while increasing efficiency, soil improvement, pesticide reduction, and abiotic stress resistance, injecting strong momentum into the development of eco-friendly agriculture.
The BASF Agricultural Solutions Division presented Huaheng Biotech with the "2025 Strategic Partner of the Year" award in recognition of their long-term, stable collaboration across multiple fields.
Looking ahead, the R&D Institute of Plant Nutrition Application will focus on overcoming technical bottlenecks in efficient nutrient utilization, developing environmentally friendly nutritional products, and establishing precision application solutions tailored to different production regions to support China’s efforts in reducing fertilizer use and improving efficiency. Guided by the core philosophy of "complementary technologies, shared resources, and joint achievement creation," the institute will merge BASF’s technical expertise with Huaheng Biotech’s local strengths, generating a synergistic effect greater than the sum of its parts and driving breakthrough advancements in plant nutrition technology.
